Max is the founder of Brave Ground, a nature-based, peer-supported coaching practice rooted in growth, connection, and honest self-exploration. After experiencing profound healing in a wilderness recovery program at age 21, Max formed a lifelong relationship with the natural world as a student, teacher, mirror, and steady ground.
Born in Colorado, his journey eventually led him back to the mountains in June of 2024. This has been a homecoming shaped by recovery, growth, and deepened purpose. Max believes nature invites us to listen inward, let go of what no longer serves us, and move forward in rhythm with our own truth.
He is a person in long-term recovery, a Certified Peer & Family Support Specialist (CPFS), Qualified Behavioral Health Assistant (QBHA), Wilderness First Responder (WFR), and experienced outdoor guide with backgrounds in rock climbing, trail and mountain guiding, whitewater activities, and ceremony. As a lifelong student, Max continues to nurture his own growth, trusting that personal work is the foundation for holding space for others.
